Agreed. I used to pick out my own running shoes and tried Nikes and Adidas, but now I go to a running shop that basically fits the best shoes for my feet. It's really interesting how many people buy running shoes for the wrong reasons i.e. brand loyalty and looks when it should be 100% about feel. I knew nothing of the science behind a good running shoe, so I stick to the experts.

Right now I'm in Asics and loving them. A simple fix for Nike plus, which my wife uses in her New Balance -- put a little slit in the tongue of the shoes and slip it in, seal up with some velcro. Or add it under the laces with a small velcro patch.

I usually dont have a problem with comfortability with Nike's. Actually they're pretty comfortable for me. I notice that when I wear Reebok, Adidas or Asics, my heel starts to hurt if I stand for a long period of time. With Nike, I dont have that problem. Puma's I dont have a problem with at all.

Whats the purpose of cutting a slit in the tongue of the shoe?

It all depends on the individual shoe and your running gait. Just as a whole Asics has "better" running shoes because they are a running shoe company. Also, it doesn't sound like you're talking about running at all, it's not very difficult to provide proper cushioning for standing around.

Tim Rogers liked Wild Arms 5 quite a bit. I'm not implying that his word is gospel, but the review is certainly provocative. I shrugged off WA 2-4, but I'm willing to give this one a chance.
