17/68 TNL'ers voted for the Lynx over the Game Boy and Game Gear in a poll. That's only 25% but looking at the names, these people aren't fanboy nutjobs; they are some this site's most well versed gamers that are big fans of both Western and Eastern-developed games.

And overall, playing games on the Lynx sux.
If I really wanted to take the effort, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to take your Lynx article and transpose the subject from Lynx to 2600 or Jaguar. It isn't going to change the suckitude of the play value of those games.

I'd say most Atari 2600 games do suck, but there are a lot that don't, more than enough to make it worth checking out. You need to sift through the crap, but Activision's stuff alone is damned impressive, as is a lot of Atari's pre-1982 stuff.

Yeah, if you randomly pick 2600 games, or just buy the common outdated stuff found at thrift stores, it sucks. A lot of the stuff that has aged well is harder to find.

back to the point of this squabble:

Lynx looked bad compared to a lot of NES stuff. They fail.

What? Lynx did stuff Genesis and SNES couldn't do. Only system out at the time with hardware sprites, scaling, and NO sprite limit. It's not just the scaling I mean, either. The number of sprites on screen in Zarlor Mercenary would choke the consoles.

It still doesn't matter what Lynx hardware was capable of, the games looked and usually sounded like shit. And most are just plain tedious to play. End of story.

True, but there are thousands(?) of GB games so even the paltry one percent of worthwhile games is still a larger group than the entire Lynx library.
