Thread: John From Cincinnati

  1. John From Cincinnati

Not that HBO hasn't been churning out excellent prgramming for years, I think this is one show that really stands out. I studied theater for several years. The most brilliant things I learned about this art came from pioneers like Konstantin Stanislavsky and Anton Chekhov. I was amazed by the complete understanding of human nature and ability to express the beauty of in the most simplistic way.

John from Cincinnati Has transcended these ideas in a modern medium. Not only is it the only show I've seen that has made me think so much, but it has done so with such little effort. There is some really brilliant acting that goes on in this series and it shines through a cryptic script and a very low budget. I'm very excited about this show and I fear that it will be cancelled before its apex. There is no pretense and no attempt to cater to any kind of audience. It is raw and it is dependent on the core of this art alone. I'm just so glad that this kind of theater can still exist in today's entertainment industry.

    Is anyone watching this show??

Sorry, I'm busy watching 300 over and over again.

LOL when I googled GOD IS DEAD images for my ringer, I came up with this image:

Honestly though this show sounds awesome and if I paid for HBO I'd watch it. Instead I guess the only way I'll see it is if I finally break down and become a pirate.

  5. Do it! I have eps 3-8 on my dvr and some eps I've watched several times just to try and decipher the mystery of this story. Thanks to Josh's internet savvy I was able to watch entire series of premium shows (Carnivale, Dead Like Me, Oz) without having to deal with the hype of each upcoming episode. Even though I'm sure I'll see this series till the end, it will most definitely be purchased on DvD.

I really want to know what you guys think about what is going on in this show. All the viewers I know have different theories about the connotations of this show. I want some different perspectives.

  6. I was into this show until last week, it doesn't fucking go anywhere and I simply got bored of it

ed o'neill steals every scene he's in though

  7. What's it about? I have it on demand but keep watching Flight of the Conchords instead.
