I just watched this. Confusing at first, but then will make a lot of sense, especially to us. Once you figure its out, it was actually pretty cool .

He is God, and everyone around him are basically like The Sims. Its like he has created his world, and people he cares about in a game of the The Sims. When he gets bored of the lives for them he has created, he "deletes" them and the world they inhabit and starts over.

It may sound stupid in writing, but is executed pretty awesomely. I highly recommend this. It took awhile for me figure it out, but it was definitely a "ohhhh, I get it now!" moment where everything comes together perfectly.
