  1. I'm really trying to figure out throat singing. I've always been able to do it, but not with any real acumen. I managed about 45 minutes of chanting before I was dizzy and my neck muscles hurt. It's like yoga for your voice.

    That's that awesome thing Buddhist monks do, right? You going to keep up with it? Get us some recordings if so, man.

    In Calliander news: Yesterday I dropped to 199 pounds. It's the first time since 2010 my weight doesn't begin with a 2. Fucking rad. 9 more pounds and I'll hit my first goal, then goal 2 is 170 pounds but eating regularly and doing an exercise thing similar to P90X.

    Once you get past the alien nature of the music, I really like it. The screaming sounds so feral contrasted with the rest, but this is difficult stuff.

    A friend described it as "frightening." I'd really like to do it live and push the volume as far as possible without microphonic feedback splattered over everything.

    Every time I do it I erase the previous samples, so there's about 2 minutes of me recording the vocal drones and an abstract drum beat. Then I stop and start those while doing live vocals.

  4. I listened to the track on repeat and it's really calming to me, but my mom used to play this tape of Buddhist monks throat singing when i was a kid so it's probably some sort of psychological throwback.

    Somebody did a damned good job scheduling my ass sitting for me today:

    Mets game - 1:35 until 4:30ish
    Microsoft E3 - 5:00 until 6:30ish
    USMNT match - 7:35 until 9:30ish
    Bethesda E3 - 10:00 until 11ish

  10. This is the thread I come back every couple of years to check in on and see how everyone is doing. I'm always happy to see that TNL is still rolling and that the same people are hanging around.

    - Made some iOS games. Became broke. Still wanting to get back into game development. Currently in on some beta stuff that may help.
    - Got married. She was desperate and I was willing. Lovely lady. Nicer than I am.
    - Bought a house. Smaller than most apartments, but it's cheap.
    - Moved to Minneapolis. Got into healthcare management. Love the leadership aspect, hate the management aspect sometimes.
    - Own all consoles, barely make use of them.
    - Still on a Mac, still not playing PC games because of it.
    - Own a splendid garden that, hopefully, wasn't destroyed by the storms this morning.
    - Realized my dream of owning a Subaru and voting Republican.
