Yes, positively.
Yes, negatively.
No.
Not when they're already dead.
I sold my collection and this is what happened; lost a ton of weight, made myself look better, bedded over a 100 cute girls, got a way better job and learned a bunch of stuff that helps in a different game called real life.

My advice is to try balancing things out next time. You'd probably have slept with maybe 5-10 fewer women, but you wouldn't lose an aspect of your life. I think it's a fair trade, at any rate.

I keep gaming a dirty secret. Just hide the consoles and games.

A little of both. A couple years ago I played too much and neglected other things, but now I do a much better job balancing gaming with other interests. Between other hobbies, work, school, and marriage, I rarely play more than three hrs a week. It took me a month to play through Vegas' campaign, but I think I enjoyed and appreciated it more than I would have if I'd blasted through it in a weekend.
Gaming is a wonderful pastime, both individually and in groups, and it's nice to have it waiting for when the time is right. Since gaming became just a hobby for me rather than an obsession, it's become more enjoyable and I feel more balanced. A few years ago, I never thought I'd become a 'casual' gamer, but it's definitely the right choice for me.

Having a game to look forward to after work helps me get through my day.
I'd say positive, as it gives me and most of my freinds a shared experience. I may be a kid that grew up mostly in the south, but I can im just about anyone on TNL and talk about a game we both played as kids. It gives a certain commonality that wouldn't be there with something like sports or art. If we talked about those things, it would just be "kinda maybe" like each other's experiences. But with games, it is the exact same experience, regardless if you are in New York or Florida.
And I think you can say mostly the same thing for other "nerd" hobbies like comics, B-movies, manga, anime, models, etc. They are shared experiences that don't change much depending on where you live and who you are.
The star quarterback in Tupelo Mississippi won't be able to relate much to the skinny chess club player that only wins 50/50 in Cali, but if they both played metroid when they were 8, they have at least that.
