Thread: Official 2007 NFL Season Thread

  1. Kyle Orton was awful. I mean, he was a rookie, so who the hell knows how good he is now, but he was terrible when he played.

Green Bay has a damn good defense. They're not any bigger frauds than the Cowboys, who have beaten opponents with a combined 2-7 record.

It's way too early in the season to start crowning an NFC champion.

    Do you remember Brian Griese?

  3. Griese's no great, but he's never been as bad as Grossman was over the second half of the season last year and so far this year.

  4. If you think Grossman's interception face is funny, Griese's deer-in-the-headlights look will have you on the floor in laughter.

He's horrible, even Shanahan couldn't put a shine on him.

  5. Career QB rating: 84.5

    Grossman career QB rating: 69.3

I think I'd give him a shot. He could hardly be worse than Grossman.

Yah, he sucks. But it is who sucks less, Rex or Brian? I say give Griese a shot.

  7. From espn.com, a scouting report on Orton:

Orton is tall, well-built and tough. He has good experience for a No. 3 NFL quarterback. He has a major-league arm and can make just about any throw. He generates good RPMs and his ball cuts through the sometimes-harsh winds in Chicago. He isn't afraid to take a hit. He should continue to add bulk and strength. He has untapped potential. But Orton is a caretaker quarterback at this stage and needs a lot of support to succeed. He is young and needs more experience reading coverages, looking off safeties and finding secondary receivers. He too often locks on to his primary option.
If Sexy Rexy sucks balls and Gerriatric Griese is too old, Orton seems to make sense. Granted, if he starts, the season will probably be over - but he'll be in better shape next season. The kid's young and has "untapped potential".

The defense is the only thing keeping these guys in games, and coincidentally, it was the defense/special teams the got the Bears to the SB last year - not their QB.

    I vote for Orton.

You can never have too many Purdue alum QBs in the NFL.

I agree. Drew Brees seems to be doing alright for himself. last year, I mean

If the head coach at the time wasn't a complete idiot, Brian Griese would have gone to Purdue too. How fucking dense do you have to be not to recruit an alum's son?
