Thread: Brige to Terabithia

  1. Brige to Terabithia

A little imagination can sometimes go a long way. The story of young and artistically talented Jesse Aarons, who is sharing concerns and money problems with his family. He's having trouble at school with the bullies and there is a bully like troll who charges the kids a dollar to go and pee. He is fighting for the attention of his father, against his baby sister. Life for young Jesse isn't looking up, that is until the adventurous, imaginative and non-conformist Leslie Burke arrives in town. Together they form a bond and Jesse's life shall never, again, be the same. Adventures and amazement in other worlds center around these two kindred spirits, and for once, for Jesse, life isn't so bad after all. If your mind is wide enough then let your imagination take you over the Bridge to Terabithia.

Do not let the marketing for this film fool you. They tried to pass it off as a cheesy Lord of the Rings for kids, but I can assure you that it is not. What they show in the commercials is only a small part of the actual movie. I found this movie to be very touching and surprisingly hard hitting, there are things in this movie that would have crushed my soul had I watched it when I was younger.

  2. It was okay. It was far less Fantasy/Sci Fi then the commercials made it out to be but still worth watching.

  3. It's really not Fantasy-ish at all. Regus is right, they passed it off as a LOTR/Narnia knock off and it's not.

  4. lol, working on my website for work, the book is on the bereavement resources page for children.

  5. I really liked the book when I was a kid. I've been meaning to rent the movie since it came out but haven't gotten around to it yet.

  6. The false advertisemets were almost as bad as that last Highlander film.

  7. The girls I babysat this summer made me watch this movie several times, despite the fact that it made them both cry horribly. Really didn't have a kid-friendly ending...

  8. I thought it wasn't a very good adaptation of the book and the ending felt rushed. The CG sucked too. I am so fond of the book that I may have been jaded though so YMMV.
