Thread: Favorite Shmup Developer? (Past or Present)

  1. Cave.

  2. It's a toss up between Raizing and Cave. I can't decide whether I like Batrider or DOJ more.
I keep my heat close like robocop

  3. Psikyo without a doubt.

I loves me some Strikers and Gunbird.

  4. I never enjoyed shooters more than Compile's classics. While I appreciate why things changed, I kind of prefer the older style of power-up based shooter.

At least there's Siter Skain, still. I just tried the new demo for their latest game and it old-school style hotness with nary a bulletML script in sight.

In the end my vote goes to Cave. Their library in totality is diverse and lengthy enough that it encompasses that of any other company. Many other great shooters have been made, but the focus upon and support from shooters to those companies isn't as much as what Cave has done for the past decade.

Tecnosoft was great, but they didn't evolve much and died because of it. Takumi is the same thing but in about half the time.

    Seibu Kaihatsu
    Compile
    Aicom
    Raizing
    Psikyo
    Konami
    Cave
    Technosoft
    Video System
    Irem
    Namco
    Nihon Bussan
    Atari
At first I was going to laugh at Triangle not being on this list, but then I've come to notice that Success, Touhou, and Takumi aren't either. Same could probably be said of 10 other companies that I'm not remembering offhand.

  7. Touhou = Team Shanghai Alice (ZUN) btw. Just for reference. (Don't yell at me plox.)

The only one of the top of my head is probably Gazelle. Though they didn't do much, but Air Gallet is good.

    Eighting I guess. *shrug* B. Bakraid was okay. But the music wasn't as good as the first ;_;
Still not thinking right? Then it isn't working.

  8. Tecnosoft / TechnoSoft - Thunder Force II on X68000, TFIII & IV on Genesis
    Irem - R-Type, R-Type II, Dragon Breed, R-Type Delta
Data West - Rayxanber III on P.C.-Engine Super CD-ROM2 / Turbo Duo
Toaplan - Fire Shark, Truxton II, Dogyuun in arcade

Actually Triangle Service should be on my list. I took it off becasue I don't enjoy XII Stag that much. But really I enjoy Trizeal more than EspGaluda or Fire Shark or whatever, so Tringle should be up there.

Though I own a few, I rarely would choose to play a Success shmup over any other companies game in my list. And while Mars Matrix is bad assed, I really haven't been drawn in to devote much time to any Takumi games.
..haven't played any Touhou games. And who ever made ChoRenSha68k should be high up on my list, since that is one of my favorite games.

oh, and btw, what was your point?

Am I the only one that thinks Bakraid is way better than Garrega?
