I played Batrider again last night. Fuck i'm shit at that game, but I totally love it.
Pretty much, some nice tunes and decent atmosphere here and there though.

Is the second Cave under Toaplan a typo? I thought Raizing branched from Toaplan.
Treasure, Cave, Raizing.
Raizing's explosion style, bomb shard system, and psychotic ranking are all taken from Taito's Gun Frontier. Shinobu Yagawa also previously worked on Recca for Famicom, which has a lot of Raizing elements like medal chaining, the aura charge, and weapons similar to the kind that show up in later games.
As for my favourite developers, tough to say. I'd have to go with Toaplan. I love Twin Cobra and Fire Shark and Batsugun.
I really hate chaining scoring systems, so I have never been enamoured with Cave's games. Taito's RayForce and G-Darius are awesome, but most of their other shooters are pretty poor. Compile levels put me to sleep. Raizing's rank drives me nuts and their games have some of the most obtuse scoring systems on the planet. I can see G.Rev and Triangle Service going places, but each company has only two shooters to their name so I can't really point to them as consistently excellent developers yet.

Speaking of G.Rev, their next work should be unveiled this week or so. *-neo

The main heads of compile stayed at Compile until the end, as far as I know. The people that went to Raizing were new guys from the MUSHA team that never worked on the older Aleste games, if I recall correctly.
