I agree with you on this, but only a little. The original Conan was a series of awesome scenes and dialogue string together into a moie that was perhaps too heavy-handed and slowly-paced. It was still fucking great, however.

But the sequel (Conan the Destroyer) went in the complete opposite direction. It was more fun, but way too silly at times.

But I can't picture any modern-made movie starring any modern movie star being nearly as bad-ass as Arnold made his Conan flicks. The remake will star a pretty Conan with perfect, blindingly white teeth, muscle tone suggesting 2-3 moderate yoga workouts a week, overly-flashy editing and pathetic PG-13 level bloodletting. Sad.

You have just described my worst fears for the new film. I'll still go and see it, but I fear it's going to be a disaster.

That actually doesn't look that bad. I could be pleased with him as Conan.

I'm not sure if I like Rachel Nichols. She's hot most certainly, but kind of typical looking. Sandahl Bergam rocked as a woman warrior who actually looked like she could be a warrior. I believed her as being Conan's equal.

Well he's supposed to be playing a younger Conan anyway.

I think he's bulked up well enough for the role although for sequels I'm sure he can get even bigger. Probably not Arnold big but maybe something close.
