Thread: The Darjeeling Limited

  1. The Darjeeling Limited

Wes Anderson's new movie kind of sneaked up on me, I remember reading about and then completely forgetting until I saw the trailer the other day. If the trailer says anything, it says that it's another Wes Anderson movie--which I'm okay with, I've always found them to be akin to a warm hug on a cool day. This one is about three estranged brothers taking a train ride through India. It has a limited release on September 29th.

  2. I hoping the trailer is just shit. Wes Anderson is my favorite guy working today and the trailer for this movie did nothing for me like the Steve Zissou trailer did.

EDIT: OK the trailer looked cooler this time than it did in front of The Simpsons. I just have no idea what's going on.

  3. I'm really looking forward to this one. Wes Anderson has never disappointed me, and I don't expect him to with this film.

  4. And in semi-related news, Owen Wilson tried to kill himself! Doesn't shock me really, he co-wrote Rushmore and Tenenbaums, he seems kind of a sad guy.

Life Aquatic is probably my favourite movie of all time. Tenenbaums didn't do it for me quite as well, but I'm excited as hell for this one.

  6. I've never seen a Wes film I didn't love.

    This one looks fucking awesome.

  7. Owen needs to fucking keep it together. Jeez.

Saw it tonight. Not as funny as the other ones but it was really great. Really, really great. And the soundtrack is once again fantastic.

And best use of extended metaphor in film, imo.

  9. I loved it. Wes Anderson's getting good at emotional scenes. This and Life Aquatic stopped time for a few moments.
The theater i went to had a midnight showing of Rushmore too. It was my best. movie. night. ever.

  10. This is having a UK premier gala in London on the 1st, but it's completely booked. I think it it's released sometime later in November, so I'll just catch it then.
