What do you have going on in terms of intake/outake fans and heatsink Brand?
We can probably increase your performance for relatively cheap.
Interesting, I'll definitely look into that. Is there any way to check if it's overheating and make sure it's definitely not the card? I only say this because I have really had problems with it since day 1, and the only time graphical glitches occur is when I am trying to run a game that uses the video card.
My other issue is I don't think I have enough room in my case for another fan because it's a shitty Dell case.
edit: After reading up, it does seem like overheating is the problem (you were right Frog), the issue for me is how to solve the problem. Because after looking at my case, which already has 2 fans, there doesn't seem to be any room for anymore.

Well it's a Dell XPS 410, which means the parts are most likely stupid tailored for Dell computer parts. But here's what I got for heatsink and fans: Custom BTX CPU HSF with 120mm fan & 80mm bottom fan near HDDs. Or at least that's all of the information I could find out about them.

Put about an hour and ahalf into the game, and I like it. I think I'm spoiled somewhat by combat in CoD4 and Orange Box though. Koreans take way too long to die and I dunno, but precision aiming has been a bitch.
I can get a great framerate with everything on high with DX10, but I might just play DX9 with some tweaks and see what I can get away with. Vista probably isn't helping either.
I wish my 8800 would ship. All I wanna do is install that fucker and fire this up.
The fact that I've been putting off playing HL2: ep 2 until I get it sure as hell doesn't help either.
There are programs to monitor heat, but I couldn't reccomend one. What you're saying is perfectly in-line with heat issues, though, since programs that tax the video card are going to get the system very hot.
A PCI-slot fan might be a good solution, since you can put it right by the video card, which seems to be the main source of your heat woes.Try the reflex sight? That made a big difference in aiming for me.
Do not use DX10. DX9 at Very High looks virtually identical and runs a LOT faster.I can get a great framerate with everything on high with DX10, but I might just play DX9 with some tweaks and see what I can get away with. Vista probably isn't helping either.

Motherboard Monitor is good.
There's also one that can specifically target the GPU on your video card. I used this to determine the thermal paste between my X800XT's GPU and heatsink had deteriorated to nothing (something kept beeping at me crazily when I was playing Doom 3, but I couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from).
Bought an aftermarket heatsink/fan for the card and applied it with some fresh thermal paste, and it's been good as new ever since. Unfortunately, I can't remember what that program was called, and couldn't find it just now after a quick scan of installed stuff.
The visceral action in this game is incredible. It's a pretty deep/strategic/open-ended game, but I'm amazed how well it pulls off the pure action thrills of blowing shit up and fighting off 20 dudes and 3 tanks.
