Sounds good.

Sounds good.
I'm impressed that my new 8800gt could play Crysis at very high settings (DX10) at fairly playable framerates. Its not really choppy either but rather it sorta stutters. I guess videocards with a gig of vram would help with the thrashing (and Vista 64 with 4 gigs of ram!). Unfortunately, the game works the videocard like hell and the game froze twice with artifacts which of course means overheating. Amazing the dopes at evga has the fan defaulted at 29% speed but a few fan profiles using rivatuner saves the day. The card's fan did not spin higher when I played Crysis as I could hear the fan now with my 80% fan speed settings. What the hell were they thinking with that 29% bullshit.
meh..anyways the card is all good now and Crysis is gorgeous. I guess I'll try out that DX9 with very high settings trick later and see what improvements I'll get.
The three different environments are all drastically different styles of play, but they're all very awesome. The first (and largest) part is geurilla warfare and it's very sandboxy, and thoroughly great.
Not really a spoiler unless you need to know nothing:Then there's the spaceship level. It's zero gravity, it's a bit slower, multidirectional like Descent, and fairly linear. It's pretty damned cool and very different, but you wouldn't want it to be longer than the single level it is.
The frozen jungle part is different again. It's more focused on twitch action. The enemies are really fast and hard to fight from a distance, as well as hard to be sneaky with. It's still really intense and works on a Serious Sam kind of level. The first 2/3 of the game definitely seem to pack the most replay value because of the wildly varying strategies, but that's not because the rest isn't fun in its own right.
So yeah, it doesn't really feel like a down turn to me, as much as it is just mixing things up in some really interesting ways. Not many games pack that sort of variety.

Spoilers please. I had no idea there was more than jungle until I read that fucking post.![]()
Which is why I didn't follow them.
I usually don't on games I know I want to play.
Dude, there's a picture of it on the back of the box.
I didn't look there either.![]()
