It's amazing. I've never seen so many ridiculous little things happen in succession. There is something crazy every fucking game, and they can't buy a call home or away, which just compounds it.
Setting all of the personnel turnover aside, every stupid new rule was made with the Devils in mind. You could argue that no team in any sport has ever had to deal with a situation like that. I'd just like equal and consistent enforcement of the stupid new rules at this point.
Well the Sabres are blowing some mighty ass early this season. But didn't Ottawa start off this bad last year? It is very frustrating watching a team that is playing relatively well lose because they can't put the puck in the net. I have not lost faith yet, too much season left.
Ottawa DID have a horrible start last year. I imagine we are both feeling similar pain right about now, but your Sabres lost some top-notch forwards and never had a deep blue line, and the Devils lost EVERY decent blueliner they have, and their offensive lines have gotten worse too.
HOWEVER, I still have hope for the season, as bad as that is.
I still have faith in Marty, you can see flashes of brilliance. White and Martin will be back in the lineup, so our blueline will improve to 23rd best in the NHL, or something like that, and with Langenbrunner back in the lineup, I feel if the gionta/elias pairing and the zajac/parise pairing can get some confidence it'll start working.
One of the big problems is we don't break out well, another fault of our miserable defense not making good decisions on outletting the puck. More problems are the constant line juggles, you can see a lot of lines wind up in magnet-puck situations because they're not used to each other and aren't sure who's gonna do what.
It's a fuckin mess.
