Awesome! Without any announcement whatsoever, someone snuck a Captain's "C" on Langenbrunner's jersey. Sutter got it right imo. European captains suck.
So everything went wrong. I didn't bring streak-hat to work so I wasn't wearing it at the start of the game. I missed the start of the game, another no-no. My friend broke his "sex on game-day" pregame ritual, because he's sick. Because of all this, I had a bad feeling despite me being happy about everything else:
Defense pairings (Martin-White, Greene-Rachunek, VV-Brookbank, Mottau and Oduya cut), Langs with the C, Marty in net, Kerry Fraser on the ice.
And look where it is, 3-0 down heading into the second because of some awful, awful mistakes, and an admittedly great set play on Boston on a SKETCHY call by a ref I respect. Everyone's letting me down, but I let myself down first by not being ready at gametime.
Holy shit there goes probably the most memorable game of the season, memorable goals and a few major-league saves. I've watched nearly every game this season (and listened to the rest) and they're starting to blur, I'm even having trouble remembering details of this win streak, but I have a feeling I'll remember this one for a while.
Damn I'm all sweaty again from jumping around in a sweater.
BTW Objects in Mirror are riding the rear bumper.
<kisses streak hat>
This weekend is going to be rough, Friday I'm going to be at a formal dinner party for the wedding so I may miss the game entirely, but the guy who's getting married is my best hockey friend and about as crazy for the team as I am, so maybe we'll work something out.
However his relationship has been getting in the way of his watching games. Another reason I don't want him to wed.
How about Patty coming up HUGE. Both goals were AMAZING and he played great all night. And Parise is just out of his skull with talent. We never should have been able to draft him.
Again, that entire game was made possible by Patrik Elias, the Devils were playing with rocks in their pants, and after goal 3 they were back to three stooging it up like they were for the first ten games. That first goal, and the save on the breakaway by Marty, turned the whole damn game around. I had no doubts that we would eventually tie it up....if we just didn't run out of time.
Impressive comeback win from an 0-3 deficit after the 1st period by the Devils. Hopefully the Leafs make it four straight tomorrow night at MSG against the Rags.
You don't have to pander to us Devils fans to post in this thread. I'll fight you but respect you.
I try to follow the whole league but anything beyond the East begins to get overwhelming, especially when I can't watch hardly any West games, and even the East gets rough. It takes a phenomenal amount of effort to keep on top of everything, the NHL is so stats heavy. Hooray for highlight reels and a decent website.
