What are you talking about?! This is, clearly, the most important part of the story.

    So, cough it up.

  3. Make them pay you your monies even if you quit. My boss doesn't file taxes, so when she didn't want to pay me something for a dog groom I told her it would be in her best interest to pay me. She paid me and we get along fine.

    Shit on the windshield.
    Boo, Hiss.

I'll try to condense it a little bit.

I saw the ad through craigslist and emailed them my resume. I got a call the same day and went through a 30 minute surprise phone interview.

I went in for the interview at 11am sharp. I started off by meeting the head IT guy. He asked me some questions and turns out I was going to be building a computer for them as a test. Ok, sure. I waited some more, talked to some other people, and then finally got to meet the boss. I left like 4 or 5pm.

A few days later they ask me to come back again. Surely, this isn't going to take long. I'm there again for another five hours. A lot more talking and waiting and I build them another computer.

All in all, the entire interview process took like ten hours of my life. Yeah, they took advantage off all the candidates. I was in a position where I really needed the money, so I kind of just clenched my teeth and accepted the position.

I started work, and basically it felt like they threw 20 manuals in my face and said "learn it, support it."

Out of nowhere I was taking phone calls for stuff I've never worked with before. I wasn't able to bring up the issue until the boss came back from out of town. I brought it up and the issue seems to like it's going to be resolved now.

I have one of their computers at home with me for training, but I really shouldn't have to do that, should I?

And then there is the overtime.

  6. hmm ... It seems shady. The story I mean.

The OT thing ... fight your ass off for it. If you quit still fight for the OT.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

How is it shady? The way I explained it or the way they're doing things?

    If I had a nickel.....

Glad you decided to quit now rather than later.

I started another job about three weeks ago. My first full check I accumulated about 49 hours. I didn't get paid time and a half for overtime. Maybe a mistake? I hoped. The Director of Operations was going to be out of town for a week so I didn't get a chance to bring it up until he got back. The next check I did about 45 hours, again, no overtime.

I bring it up yesterday, says to email him the information, and he'll find out what's going on with the owners. Today I was told basically, "the company doesn't pay overtime unless it is 50 hours or more."

Yeah, I'm I think I'm going to have to give the U.S. Dept. of Labor a call tomorrow.
I see that you live in Florida, aka the south. yeah, that shit is pretty normal around here. Breaking labor laws that is.
