I'd love to be able to get excited about this. Really. But, much like KH2, unless they do something drastically different (IE: an Action/RPG wholly set in the World That Never Was), I feel as though it'll end up being more of the same.
Someone already mentioned that all of the "good" Disney properties have already been used up. I can only tromp through the same worlds so many times (read: ONCE!) before it is no longer interesting.
Granted, I haven't played through KH2. The story, from what I've dug up, seems to be extremely detailed, full of nuance and intrigue, and a shit-ton of heartbreak (which is why the series is so good, IMHO; it's this aspect of the games that nearly carries the story all by its lonesome). I'll be buying it and replaying it when I've finished crushing Odin Sphere. But having and excellent story doesn't get you off the "diverse settings hook," as it were. I mean, of course I want to see what happens, but I'd like to fucking have some fun while I'm getting there, and not be bored to tears, yeah?
I really loved KH, but was pretty bored by KH2. I'm still tempted to go back and revisit that game one day, but the whole "nobodies," "somebodies," "ablebodies" whatever BS was really making my head spin and annoying me. The idea of a four player KH sounds pretty hot, though.
I can think of some worlds, namely Fantasia, Sword in the Stone, Jungle Book, Robin Hood, Toy Story, etc. I don't think any of those were in the 3 games that have been released?
I would buy it for the Incredibles.
Pixar or some of the old old stuff came into this, I'm down. But like Chain of Memories, they probably won't go anywhere new until KH3
Actually, I'm still into the story. It's like everything halts when you start exploring disney worlds. In KH2 I wanted to get over with the disney shit so I could see where the story went and bring down Sephiroth. Both remained satisfying events.
I won't give up on KH till they choke on an ending. Surprisingly, they're tellin' a pretty good story so far. 'Guess it can go nowhere but down.
...or wait 5-somethin' years after release until the spinoffs are included in another final mix....
