The Hornets held San Antonio, under 40 points(second half) in tonight's game. It wasn't some kind of fluke, as they did the same to the Mavericks in that series.

LeBron had the easiest way possible to make the Finals last year. When Mike was at this stage he had to deal with the still great teams in the East like the 76ers, Celtics, Pistons, the Cavs with Price, Nance, Harper, and Daugherty, all legitimate contenders. LeBron had to get past the Wizards with no Arenas or Butler, the old and soft Nets who had upset the Raptors, and the Disinterested Pistons team that showed this disinterest yet again by recently losing two in the first round. Put it this way, the path was so easy people thought the Bulls would make the Finals if they didn't choke and lock down that #2 seed in 2006-2007.

Kobe has had to come out of the West.

none of this changes the fact that lebron has been surrounded by trash his entire career while kobe has mostly had awesome teams.

Take Kobe off the Lakers and they could still contend for a playoff spot with all the talent they've assembled around him.

Why do you say that? Gasol couldn't beat anybody with Mike Miller & Rudy Gay, what makes you think he could do it with Lamar Odom & Ronny Turiaf?
It also didn't help Paul's case that Kobe beat him when they went head to head.

And I wish I could find it now, but somebody did a really good article breaking down how Kobe statistically made his teammates better than Lebron does (FG%s went up when Kobe was on the floor, while a lot of Lebron's teammates' dropped) and held opponents to lower FG %s.

I don't like Kobe but I think he does have the strongest case for MVP this year, though if they gave it to Paul I would have been happy. Lebron doesn't deserve it for taking half the season off and his team's mediocre record in the East.
