New Wii update spells the end for Freeloader [Update 1]

Turns out the Twilight Hack wasn't the only casualty of the latest Wii Menu Update. Import gamers everywhere are turning on their Wiis to find that the Freeloader disc they purchased to play (for example) Super Smash Bros. Brawl (remember that?) on their PAL Wiis is also rendered useless by the update. Slotting the Freeloader disc into a Wii now results in a message telling you that:

1. An error has occurred.
2. You'll need to eject the disc and turn off your Wii, please.
3. Your worth as a human being is infinitesimal at best. Why do you even bother going on?

So there you go, folks -- say goodbye to playing imports early, and hello to waiting for big-name releases that already appeared elsewhere months ago.

No but allows people to play WiiWare and VC without even paying for it via Wii Points. One can simply download WiiWare/VC .wad files and install it.

I posted this in last page. Also, Homebrew Channel has Region Free also when you have files loaded onto your SD card. I dont know if this is blocked too.

So Samba updated because she saw the message asking her to update. I'm kinda mad now that I just spent the $20 on the freeloader disk and got to use it ONCE. But thats ok, I'm making her buy me a HORI stick to make up for it.

Also, anyone know if the community is working on a downgrading program ala PSP beyond what bandit mentioned?

Nintendo fucked themselves because they focused on bringing in a huge market of people who won't pay for games or pay attention to releases, and then put out a hugely underpowered system at the same time which absolutely can't rival either of the other two among the "core" gamer base, so I'm not really sure what they were expecting here.

Not that I know of, but I recall reading somewhere that the guy who figured out the Twilight Hack said something like it was only the first exploit on the first game he tried, he is working on others.

All the update does is check for corrupt Twilight Princess saves, it would do nothing to prevent a similar hack in another game. I haven't tried it, but I believe there is a region free program that can run inside of the Homebrew Channel.

I would lov ethe region free thing, but since the Wii is now a 3.3U, it kills the ability for me to install the homebrew channel to get to the region free program. Oh well, other than Milestone Shooting Works, there wasn't much I was interested in that hasn't already come here.
