  3. I just call them as I see them

  4. Are you ready for a new original IP from Nintendo? ARE YOU? Welcome to the Rainbow League....

(From IGN) Captain Rainbow tells the story of a hero of the same name and his every day alter-ego Nick. Rainbow is the star of a television show in the land of the free, Mameruka (this could be a pun on "America"). Thanks to the appearance of some unpopular characters, the ratings for his show have tanked. In order to gain back the show's popularity, Nick decides to head off to Mimin Island. Something happens along the way, however, and Nick learns that he is the only person who can help out the residents of Mimin.

And those residents happen to be the second tier characters from the Nintendo family. Actually, maybe third tier is a more accurate description. The characters you encounter here may be recognizable by only the most hardcore of Nintendo fans. Would you recognize Ossan, the character from the original Famicom Golf? How about Hikari, from Famicom Mukashibanashi (this latter title was only available in Japan)? More people, at least in America, should be familiar with Catharine, the Super Mario Bros. 2 boss who spits out eggs at you.

It's a bit unclear what you'll be doing as you take control of Nick and Captain Rainbow and meet all these characters. While the game offers a variety of activities like fishing, bug collecting, and golf, the actual point of the title is being kept under wraps. There seems to be a side scrolling action component to the game, but it's possible that this is just one aspect of the game.

More details should be available shortly, as Famitsu reports that Nintendo will be releasing weekly video updates for the title on the Wii's Nintendo Channel.

  5. Lol, Nintendo is just Frankensteining this shit now.

"Gimme a piece of Animal Crossing, some Mario... um, are there any characters we haven't squeezed the life out of already?"

"Just some lame-ass characters no one remembers."

"No one left from Metroid? Donkey Kong? "

"Um, there's this dude who was in a golf game..."

    "Perfect!"

mixes ingredients together and stirs with the Wiimote

"Toss in some motion control... a little bit of waggling... VOILA! INNOVATION!"

  6. Holy mother of crap!

Production I.G. is handling the animation? This just blows my mind.

  7. Silly Hero, we knew that last week back in the Wario Shake thread!

I have fun playing Wii Play and Mario Party 8 with sprouts, though neither game would be terribly interesting playing by myself or with cranky gamers that can't get into that stuff. The Wii is NES 2.
If i had Wii Fit and a child i'd be having the most fun i've ever had with vidja games, probably. That's creepy.

my ex-girlfriend. was telling me. how fun. carnival games. is. and i laughed and laughed.

but it really sounded like a lot of fun to me too!

  8. That's because Hero didn't find out about it until he conversed with some people he knows who aren't gamers but enjoy the Wii a whole lot.

  9. I'm pretty sure that those people are excited about Production I.G. have something to do with the game! It must have come up during a chat about the similarities between Buffalo Daughter and Hip Tanaka.

  10. "While the game offers a variety of activities like fishing, bug collecting, and golf, the actual point of the title is being kept under wraps. "

I am going out on a limb and saying that is what the actual point is. I am sure it's super innovative and all though
