So are the animal crossing fans in here bummed that It's still an N64 game?

Also can't wait to see the frame rate on that dead rising.

Nintendo doesn't even appear to be trying these days. And, unfortunately, they're rewarded for it due to the casual gaming demographic having grown so enormously large. You really can't fault them for making easy money but it's obviously gone to an extreme for many of us gamers who take the hobby seriously. There certainly is a "gaming bliss" that arrives when playing that (near) perfect Nintendo title but I'm not sure we're ever going to see that kind of commitment from them again. And, even if we do, it'll be few and far between.

This has happened before.

It resulted in the N64.

Its also semi-echoed in Sony's PS2 -> PS3 transition as well.

Balance will restore itself.

Saying "Nintedo isn't trying" is simply ignoring the truth. They're trying like mad, they're just not trying anything worth caring about by anyone who isn't your mom/sister/etc. Wii Sports 2 and Wii Music aren't simple, by any stretch of the imagination. They look simple, and that's pure Nintendo magic at work, but its being directed almost completely against my interests.

Rhythm Tengoku DS (Rhythm Heaven in the US) and Wario Land Shake are both at E3, to varying degrees. It would have been nice if Nintendo had bothered to mention this to anyone.

If "Wii Music" ends up resembling the kind of free-form zero learning curve creative outlet sort of deal one of the recent "TED" talks was going on about, there could be some interesting results from it.

I'm not saying anybody's going to cut a damn album with it, but it could open up young kids to looking at music as a means of expression.

That could be a good thing.
