Seriously. Not only am I not buying NSMB now, but I'm not buying Metroid Prime Trilogy either. I think my Wii is now officially a Konami compilation in a plastic shell.

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has said that, despite the love fans had for the first game's plot (centred around Rosalina and the adorable Lumas), "I'd like to go with as little story as possible...I've always felt that the Mario games themselves aren't particularly suited to having a very heavy story."

So, they made a yoshi model threw in some new levels and are like hay guys buy this @ $50.

I've never played a Nintendo game with a good story, so I don't care about this specifically. But they're working their way to doing even closer to the bare minimum than before.

If Mario Galaxy 2 is less of the 'go from small rock to small rock by doing something that has almost shit all to do with platforming' and more of the things like that one level with the moving hole-y platforms with the candy/cake or the 2D stuff where you're trapped in the glass tubes or whatever, that'd be great. I don't think that is in the cards, though.

I'll buy this. Gladly. Galaxy had literally dozens of interesting gameplay concepts that were just dropped into a random planetoid and promptly forgotten. GOOD concepts. Stuff that would be a back-of-box feature in any other game. It got to the point that a great deal of the game felt like an extended tutorial, never iterating on the challenges.

So yeah, I'm excited about another Galaxy. More of the same, but more difficult is exactly what I'm looking for. Especially when good 3D platformers are so nonexistent.

And as much as I want the guy to just retire, he's right. Sunshine and Galaxy's forced story sections were painful.
