I don't demand that guests that take shoes off upon entering my home, but I do prefer it. You're telling me you just walked outside through concrete, dirt, mud, snow, puddles, broken glass, rocks, dirty needles, spilled beer, used condoms, dog shit and piss, etc., and now you want to track that through my floors and rugs just because you don't like taking your shoes off? Fine, but you can stand outside on the balcony and we'll communicate through the screen door.
Besides, I like to let my feet air out. It's comfortable.
If my shoes are caked with mud and broken crack pipes I'll take them off. If not, fuck your carpets.
Frank: I had an affair with a Korean woman.
Elaine: Uh, Mr. Costanza, I …
Frank: No, I feel I need to unburden myself. I loved her very deeply. But the clash of cultures was too much. Her family would not accept me.
Elaine: Mr. Costanza, I, …
Frank: Maybe it was because I refused to take off my shoes. Again, the foot odour problem. Her father would look at me and say, " eno enoa juang ". Which means, "this guy - this is not my kind of guy".
Health care
sucks for everyone that isn't at the top. Is kind of ok for anyone in the upper middle class. But still not great.
shoes
the only people I know that always take off their shoes in the south are Asian people and fags who think they are Asian. The shoes come off when either you are dog tired or you have mud on your shoes. I imagine this is less of a deal in the south because there really isn't a lot in the south to get your shoes nasty in.
broadband
options suck. It is ok in college towns, but in smaller towns they have retarded deals that force you to sign up for an entire year just to get something ok.
faith in god
sometimes yes, sometimes no
I've seen churches do good things like help the poor or rebuild homes. But the whole dry county thing is lame. I've been pulled over and given a ticket for having booze. It was like $400. And you get a ticket per TYPE of booze. You could rack up a $1400 ticket if you had bear, wine and jack on you at one time. Oh and they take it away from you. So they take your booze and your money. It feels wonderful.
I find this has more to do with culture than faith though. The lines between culture and religion in the south blur in small towns. Some people have trouble understanding that there is nothing in the bible telling you to force others to do "good." A lot of southern Christians aren't religious or spiritual. They are just protecting, enforcing, and spreading their culture.
Christian spirituality is cool, but Christian culture is lame imo.
oh and religious beliefes are not unified in the US. About the only thing christins can agree on is that God thinks we are bad people and Jesus is freaking awesome and cool to hang out with.
