I don't have to pay insurance anymore, but when I did I payed 40 dollars each check (bi-weekly). Well worth it.

Even better when you start speaking parenthetically:
Coherent now, and you are welcome.
Oh, health care in emergency situations will never be denied here. You'll get the bill, but if you show up at the hospital, they will never turn you away. There are actually are good people in healthcare. The hospital staff could care less if you pay.
Shoes? If they want em off, I'm ok with that. Big fucking deal. But, I don't take my shoes off til I hit the sack. Carpets can be cleaned...but duh...buy dark carpeting.
Broadband? I live in the city...I can have whatever I want...FIOS, Cable, DSL; it's all there.

Wearing shoes in the house isn't a cultural thing as much as it is an individual choice. I actually noticed more people wearing shoes indoors in Europe than I ever have in Canada, but there seems to be plenty of people in both camps in both places. I haven't spent enough time in the states to really pick up on their habits, but I imagine it's the same there too.
I almost never wear shoes in the house, but I often don't wear pants, either.
I still don't know what mr. farts was talking about.
