So when I try to sign in it says I have to change my password on a pc, and that an email has been sent to my address.
There is no email.
Well some servers are up otherwise I wouldn't have been able to download the latest PSP firmware. Also, from that link:
"In the meantime, now’s a great time to get your PS3’s firmware updated and change your password, both of which are required to get online."
[edit]: It doesn't say that anymore. Sneaky fuckers changed it and took out the password part. Also, here:
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/...ftware-update/
they mention you will only be able to change your password on the original PS3 the account was created on, or through email. No mention of PSP. So I guess I'm fine.

Boo, Hiss.
I tried signing in on the computer and it kept saying my password and account don't match.
When I tried the "I forgot my password" thing on the ps3 it gave me an error code about too many invalid attempts to log in.
Their advice is to wait 24hrs and try again.
Lame.
Boo, Hiss.
Most of the continental US has been restored apparently, except for where I think the Mississipi River runs. All of the non continental US has been. No word on Canada yet. Fuckers.
Starts the new update: Yes, I'll be registering Portal 2 in moments.
Remembers this is a PS3 update: Damn, better make myself a sandwich.

Since I had to check, they actually did require that you change your password, i.e. you couldn't just use the same one again. Upgraded security confirmed.
So its uh....it's back down.
