Thread: Official PlayStation 3 Thread

  1. Maybe licensing issues come into play but they should just port Twin Snakes. Actually MGS shipped on the PC so there's already a higher res version out there.

You don't want to play that version. Ever. Those textures were designed to be viewed at the PS1's native resolution, and once you go higher it turns into horrible dogshit. Twin Snakes, even with the detriments it has over the original, should be the only version ported if they're just going to add higher resolution.

Now, if they were actually redoing all the textures and models, sure.

MGS has parts 2 and 3 (3 will be Subsistence) and Silent Hill will have 2 and 3 in it. I'm assuming since MGS and Silent Hill are already PSOne downloads on the PSN for the reasoning why they're both missing.

Welcome to two days ago and in a more appropriate thread, since they are multiplatform.

  4. I did inFAMOUS and Wipeout as well.

The first because for free it looks like a good time and the other because I should have got it forever ago.

I haven't been around much lately. Didn't bother looking.

For anyone else awesome enough to have a European PSN ID prior to the attack, Streets of Rage II and Burnout: Paradise are PS+ freebies over there.

edit: I also finally found this info for more awesomeness:

  7. Too bad they're all terrible aside from Wipeout?
    Boo, Hiss.

Yeah, the Asian stuff is bottom scraping. The European and US stuff is much better. Though The Last Guy and Echochrome aren't bad either.

  9. Bleh, those Japanese offerings suck. I already have Last Guy and Wipeout.

  10. The Silent Hill collection is PS3 only.

Konami didn't have much to say about the newly HD-ified Silent Hill Collection when it was announced during the company's pre-E3, but a short listing in a recent email revealed some more details. As we knew already, the Collection includes only Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 with new, high-definition graphics. What we didn't know is that the Silent Hill Collection will be available on PlayStation 3 only, unlike the Zone of the Enders HD Collection and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, both of which will also make it to Xbox 360.

That PlayStation 3 release brings with it the requisite trophy support, "all-new voice acting directed by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, and a fall 2011 release window.
