i want to drive down and see some fire. Some of the gigantic mansions in Malibu are gone. I heard about one on the news valued at $17 million.

So last night Penny wakes me up saying theres a fire and I figure she's just being stupid about nothing. So I go outside and there's some smoke but it looks like it's in the distance... then I turned the corner and a hill about half a mile from my house is on fire and it looks like the fucking end of the world. At that point we packed up all our shit and got the fuck out just as the Sheriff was giving off the evacuation notice.

At about 4 in the morning we came back and the fire had moved parallel to our development and over another hill; thankfully the 30mph wind was going away from us and took the fire with it. So right now it's safe but there's still a medium risk of it coming around from another fire and taking us out.

Everything is closed. No one is working or going to school. Smoke is fucking everywhere.

If I wasn't in a total panic last night about my home burning down, I could have taken some amazing pictures. In hind sight, I had the time but you wouldn't have known it in my shoes.
