Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
To my great surprise, I couldn't find a thread devoted to this game. It's coming out next week, along with Crysis, Assassin's Creed, Army of Two, some Contra game and a ton of other shit in what promises to be the game industry's Operation Overlord.
Why should you care about this game? It was developed by Io Interactive, justly acclaimed for its work on the Hitman series. But they also developed Freedom Fighters, one of the best and most criminally underrated games of the previous console generation. FF was a brilliant third person action game with amazing music and great, often humorous art direction. It was set in an alternate world in which the Soviet Union attempts a massive land invasion of the United States. Your player becomes the head of the resistance movement in New York City.
One of its coolest features was the squad control system. By the end of the game, you can have as many as 12 AI-controlled fighters at your disposal at one time. With a quick push of a button, you can give individual orders to each squad member, allowing you to perform complex tactical maneuvers on the fly.
Kane and Lynch looks like a spiritual sequel to FF. Like FF, Kane and Lynch is a 3rd person action game with squad control elements. The major difference is that the main characters in K&L are mercenary sociopaths who rob banks. Multiplayer sounds really awesome, too.
The only question is whether to buy it for 360 or PC. I'm tempted to go 360 just because Io's PC games have a history of massive bugs.
Anyone else picking it up next week? If so, for what system?
