I didn't get it either.
So, I just watched Ghost World. This movie apparently has a cult following so I'm clearly missing something.
I didn't find the movie funny or entertaining for 90% of the movie. I couldn't stand the main character, she was the angsty lame snot-nosed kid that everyone can't stand. I didn't relate to her at all. None of the plotlines went anywhere, and the would-be-funny jokes beat you over the head with their lameness (dissing on high-art, making fun of the video store for not knowing what 8 1/2 is). I kept feeling like the film needed to get over itself. I kept wanting Enid to get a damn job and shut up. She was clearly holding her friend back the whole time. So, what am I missing? Why did people not find it boring, pretentious and self-serving? It has like a 92% from the critics, and I see avatars and sigs with shots from the film here and there.
PS: Assume I know everything about the film that IMDB and wikipedia would tell me (based on a comic, etc. etc.).

Ghost World is boring and shitty.
I have no idea why anyone would want to watch it a second time.
I enjoyed it, despite the fact that Enid was a lazy slob. I have a major thing for Thora Birch, however.

This movie is geared towards the loser that doesn't fit in. If this is not you, you won't like it much.
I think I stuck through it because of Steve Buccemi.
When I first saw this movie I was a loser that could not fit in, and I still hated this overrated, pretentious piece of shit.
