Thread: No Country for Old Men

  1. On the DVD there is the music playing from the end credits in the menu, so I assumed it was going to be the standard (but normally great) Coen Brothers style score. Which is why the lack of music seemed like such a pleasant surprise to me.

  2. Watched it last night. Not bad, liked the story and the way it was shot. Some great acting as well, and motel shootout/escape was tense.

Last 10-15 minutes were kinda anti-climactic, but if they weren't, that would have been your clinched Hollywood conclusion.

  3. The minimal usage of score was Ethan's idea but he had to convince Joel to go along with it. I think it was the right choice in hindsight, of course.

  4. I really liked this movie. Anton is just an awesome villain, very creepy, almost like he exists in some other dimension than the other characters. I thought the ending wasn't all that weird, stuff happens and sometimes it doesn't get wrapped up in a neat little bow. It's made my top ten list of movies for sure.

  5. One of the undertones of the entire movie is that shit doesn't happen according to plan. There isn't some kind of beginning middle and end playbook you can run to when you hit the shit. Bad people sometimes get away. Good people sometimes get shot and die out of nowhere in the middle of a revenge plot.

The ending made a lot of sense.

  6. It was an okay movie. I enjoyed it but wasn't terrible engulfed in the experience.

  7. I'd like to see more done with the villain.

  8. No Country for Older Men: Chigurh Strikes Back!

  9. lol. It'd probably ruin the franchise because it would be done shitty but oh well. Thems the breaks.
