The lack of Genesis games on this list really is apalling. There's no Gunstar Heroes, Sonic is really low, and I have a sneaking suspicion we won't be seeing any Sonics higher on the list.

Indeed. These media lists seem to become more Nintendo-system biased every year. Any top 100 with Sonic below several Mario games, and no Wonder Boy, Shinobi games, or Gunstar is worthless. I think we can rule out NEC systems too as I recall MarkRyan saying he would be surprised if any IGN editors had ever owned one. My only hope there is that they have played some via Virtual Console.
I still want to know who would hire a video game journalist who never owned a wide variety of consoles. You could randomly pick members of this board, and they'd destroy IGN in knowledge, writing, and general interest.

Yeah, I think Buttcheeks and myself head up that list of serious gamers.
Sonic and Gunstar don't belong on a top 100 unless it's top 100 games that people really like but aren't really that good.
