Kids act out violence all the time, what do they think little boys do with thier G.I joes? Have tea parties? The toy isles are filled with fake weapons and toys that involve violence/fighting. Its annoying when video games are used as a scapegoat for every screwed up kid commiting violent crimes.

Does the ESRB need to become law, like the movie ratings? What's the deal?

Movies aren't required to be rated by law, and many theaters play unrated movies, sell unrated DVDs, etc. If anything the ESRB is already more strictly enforced because of console manufacturer policies.
