    Okay, so I haven't totally decided if I'm going to do this or not, but I wanted to see if there might be any possible good recipients in case I decided to. I've got both an old-style PS2 and a GameCube collecting dust, and instead of getting $10 in trade credit from EB or bothering with selling/ebaying them, I got the idea in my head about maybe giving them away to somebody who would really appreciate them. Problem is, I can't give them to a local charity to give for Xmas, since they're used, and just giving them to the local donation center will just put them on a shelf to be sold to whomever.

    So, I wanted to see if any of you folks around here might have any good suggestions. If I'm going to give one of these away, I'd really like it to go to somebody younger (as in, somebody who couldn't buy a console on their own), and somebody to whom even a used PS2 or GameCube would be a big deal. I'm sure to most of us, receiving one for free would be nice, of course, but I'd like to find somebody that either can't really afford to have a game console, somebody who even a used game console would really make them happy, that sort of situation.

    Please, no "just give it to me" responses, and I'll also be weary of suggestions from people who aren't well known around here (since I'd want to make sure the console was really going to a good home). If I do decide to do this, it'll be the console, all cables, at least one controller, and at least one game. I'm sort of hesitant on the GameCube, because I really have use for both of the controllers that I have for it - so, if you know somebody you'd really like it to go to, and would be willing to either buy or give them a controller so that I could keep mine, that might help convince me.

    Again, this is not at all certain, and please don't be a jerk and just try to get it for yourself. I'm going to make a decision about this in time that it could be given for Xmas, so if you know of anybody who a "new" console would really make happy, post here (don't PM, as I'm terrible about checking them) so I can think it over. And, just to be clear, I'm not looking for anything from this other than knowing that somebody would really be appreciate something I'm currently not.

    Can't you designate profits from an ebay sale to go to a charity around this time of year?

    I might be making that up, but they should totally do that.

    I guess my thought was the money I might make from selling one of the consoles wouldn't be worth as much as the console itself might be to somebody. If I decide not to just give one of them away, though, I might do that.

    Pretty sure I can't, since they aren't new. They typically only want new stuff. Plus, I'm already giving to Child's Play, and if I'm going to give one of the consoles away, why not give it to somebody through somebody I know on here, instead of a total stranger.

    Walk into a cancer ward for children in your area, give it to them. Nobody will say no and you'll feel like a million bucks when you do it.
