Incorrect. I'm sure Okamoto-san would do a great job if he and the rest of the people that built the Street Fighter franchise were still at Capcom.

  2. Which they aren't.

Hence whoever the fuck is making this are not "the series' originators" regardless of the logo on the box.

Which brings us back to the main argument, that Western devs should get a shot at bringing back 'dead' franchises.

  5. Not when the original talent is available. I'm completely against taking series away from the artists that created them. Eastern or Western this usually sucks, and it's unfair to game designers as artists as well.

P.S. When's the last time a western dev made ANY good fighting game? And I mean actually good not Mortal Kombat campy/acceptable.

But, like you said in the case of Capcom and the original SF team, they just ain't there. It's been YEARS since a lot of these franchises did anything right, and a lot of the old 2D teams dissolved after everything started going 3D; not everybody who worked on Bionic Commando 1 or Strider is sitting in the same set of cubicles anymore.

As far as the fighting game thing, sit and wait. Let's see how SFII:HD rebalance mode turns out.

Then let it go, really. Make a new series. This industry is more obsessed with sequels and licenses than Hollywood.

One Must Fall: 2097 was pretty damn good. A shame that Diversions turned out to be a one-hit wonder, as OMF Battlegrounds was complete garbage.

THIS. I'd rather see new games that have the potential to become classics rather than nostalgic retreads.

    Software is like that, yeah.

Way of the Warrior is beyond good. In fact, it is beyond any and everything.
