    Expert? Yah, right.
Yeah. I am so not ready for Expert. I need K3V and Chux's skills.

I built one myself. It's not as difficult as it seems.

FYI, make sure you have something vertical and sturdy that the beater can strike against.
    R.I.P. Paragon Studios

  3. Why not just remove the beater?

  4. The beater on the thing I bought is actually reversed so that it strikes the front of the pedal. There's this little attachment that it hits so you don't break anything.

I've only used a real kick drum ~5 times but this feels pretty much exactly the same.

That would kinda take away half of the reason to get one of these mods. The rebound from the beater hitting a solid surface is very important for hitting fast sections, just as the rebound from a real drum makes rolls easier than on the regular Rock Band set.

I like the drums, I'm having a blast playing them, but then I'm far from an actual drummer so I am not noticing all the quirks that are there.

  6. I'm no pro drummer either, but I know enough to realize the drumkit lacks the true feel of drums. It's expensive as it is now, but if it came with a better kickpedal out of the box, cymbals/highhat options, and a cowbell it would've been a much better feel.

  7. If the pads were:

    a) flexible enough to be moved around and repositioned

    b) built with a decent amount of rebound

I could live with it. Those are the two deal-breakers for me.

Anyway, I'm getting most of the 'Priest album and playing for an hour or so around 2 PM EST, then will be back on tonight at 9 PM EST:

    Hellion/Electric Eye
    Riding on the Wind
    Bloodstone
    Screaming for Vengeance
    You've Got Another Thing Comin'
    Devil's Child

The beauty of Judas Priest is that all of those songs kick ass while still having a very different feel from each other.

The other tracks are basically filler, but oh well, most Judas Priest albums have at least two/three filler tracks. They're a lot like Iron Maiden in that regard.

  8. Arg, this comes out today? I can't afford to buy Rock Band tracks today. Definite purchases are Hellion/Electric Eye, Take These Chains Off, and You've Got Another Thing Coming.

  9. I've been really enjoying the 'Priest songs, aside from the fact that the game doesn't seem to recognize attempts at imitating Halford's "demon style" singing in songs like "Riding on the Wind"--if I sing normally, I can put together some pretty nice combos, but if I change the timbre of my voice, the game seems to have trouble keeping up and I fail within a few phrases.

    This week's tracks:

These songs can be picked up individually for $1.99 (160 MS Points). And here they are:

The Mother Hips – “Red Tandy” (MASTER)

The Mother Hips – “Time Sick Son of a Grizzly Bear” (MASTER)

    Smashing Pumpkins – “Zero” (MASTER)

This week's tracks will *not* be available as a pack, and must be downloaded separately.

To discuss this week’s DLC, please visit this thread, and be sure to check back next week for Brett Milano's article on The Mother Hips at RockBand.com/life

  10. I guess I'll get the Smashing Pumpkins song.
