It doesn't really hold up all that well from a gameplay point of view, but Vigil: Blood Bitterness has some really awesome stylized graphics:

  4. That looks like it should be called "Hay did anyone else ever read Sin City?"

  5. Best genre ever.

Opaque, play the original Sam and Max game over the episodes. In fact, you should look into nearly every Lucasarts adventure game from Monkey Island forward.

If you're only looking for grafix, The Curse of Monkey Island still looks good, as does Grim Fandago. The other Lucasarts games also have nice art, they're just super-low-res.

Having just finished Dreamfall (SO GOOD), I can't recommend it without first finishing The Longest Journey. You'd miss too many of the references to the first game. You can grab both in a $25 package via Steam.

edit: Neo, Zack & Wiki is an honest-to-god adventure game? A good one, even? I always figured it was more of a Zelda thing, judging from screenshots.

Leave the Wii out of this.

I was just hoping for something that passes as a Myst VI or something.
Sam and Max season 1 is $20 at Amazon. not sure what it normally goes for but it seems like a good deal to me.

Search TNL for one of our Best of Adventure games thread and go play those.

Most especially Grim Fandango if you haven't played it.
also a note (since Opaque is also using Vista 64 like me) there was a thread here not to long ago that had a link with an x64 launcher and installer for Grim Fandango. damned if i remember where it is now. (Psychonauts thread perhaps?)

Crysis is the only thing I'm holding out on and this is why: I realized based on CoD4 and Bioshock demos that I really could have had an even more mind blowing experience if I had played them using the power of my PC, which made me think that I should just wait until Feb and play Crysis on the 9800GTX I'm getting. Also by that point I'll have my system in a newer colder case and I'll have overclocked my processor and altered the CAS on my RAM. It just makes more sense to play Crysis on that machine instead of this one.
