Probably more. The current 3D version is spread across 2 BD50 discs, this would be double the size of that if they kept the bitrate the same.

I've watched the first trilogy dozens of times and the Hobbit set won't be out for years. I won't be buying it though, my in laws buy everything. I'll watch theirs.

I liked it. It definitely didn't have the resonance that LOTR had, but I like being in the world again... it was fun. Will watch another.

  4. Just got done watching the bluray. Aside from some decidedly videogame looking cg and the songs in the beginning, I liked it.
So much beautiful photography that you begin to lose appreciation for it halfway into it.
I loved seeing the reprisal of roles (except for some stuff in this thread, i paid no attention to the movie, so this was a surprise). Gollum's series of expressions were phenomenal. Props to Serkis.

  5. Serkis sucks on bags full of dicks. Props to the Animation team.

  6. Props to whoever made gollum seem like a real character and not a jar jar.
    That better?

  7. Agreed! His scenes were great.
...because without the bitter, baby, the sweet ain't as sweet.

  9. The animation team without Serkis' amazing performance would be no better than Serkis' performance in the hands of rank amateur animators. I get that you think they're being robbed of their due credit, and maybe there's some merit to that, but turning that around and acting like they could have done it without him makes you no better.
