watched this yesterday. It was alright. Tons of filler though.
Maybe I should spoiler this, but like, you know when the hobbit goes to see the dragon, and they have a conversation, then smalg flies off to attack the town? They inserted a hollywood action battle in the middle of that conversation. oh, and if I recall right, they insert yet another battle, inside that battle.
I really can't wait for the blurays to come out, and for the fan's to edit out all the fluff. It will be really great then.

The Star Wars stuff was different because the editing was just putting things back to how they were before. Although there is that one crazy guy that fucking built a whole new carbonite statue to edit back in just to fucking fix Han's shirt that no one even noticed was different in the first place*, so maybe you're right and one of those weirdos that learned Tolkien's elf language will get around to it.
*The edits he's doing are actually pretty cool, but he is seriously nutso to be rebuilding the films they way he is just to fix every little error.
