Some of those people are correct. Black on white crimes are rarely ever reported as hate crimes nor are they charged that way compared to white on black crimes. Last week a woman was assaulted by black kids and the newspaper or police didn't describe them as black. They just said something along the lines of they were wearing clothes and were young. When a non-black guy had gotten a guy killed on the L train a few months ago, they added his race pretty damn quickly.

The whole concept of "hate crimes" is horseshit. The motive doesn't change the crime. Should a guy killing his wife for insurance money get more or less time than for cheating on him, assuming both are premeditated? It's ridiculous.

The guy who premeditates the murder gets more time than the guy who does it in a fit of anger or jealousy. In either case the victim is dead. So, uhh, yea, circumstances actually do matter.
