That is definitely not gendered! It’s racially charged, as well as ableist if you’re flying in that direction. I’m still a little sus about things being ableist versus not though when it comes to mental health. Like, calling someone or something “OCD” has shifted to an almost positive trait, even though it’s often used incorrectly. Yet, as we often do here, refer to negative things as autism or autistic (and I definitely do this still.) but, calling someone “manic” isn’t an insult per se, though it refers to a really destructive aspect of bipolar disorder.
I have some friends who won’t use “crazy” as an insult, and I think that’s a bit far as things go. But, it’s an interesting hierarchy of what we consider acceptable traits or not.
