Thread: Tales of Vesperia

  1. Wouldn't back to back Mystic Artes be a bit difficult in Vesperia anyways now that that the Overlimit gauge is shared among the party? Unless you were planning on spamming Limit Bottles or using Yuri's Ultimate Tension skill for a Yuri -> whoever combo...

  2. I should probably pay attention to the whole 'what arte am I using thing' and learn how to chain or combo properly. I just got whipped with the whole Schwan/Raven fight pretty hard. He's hitting me for 500-600 with something that chains. It's too much of a pain to heal using only gels. Didn't get a chance to try a second time, so maybe it was just a fluke first try though.

That was a tough battle. I think for that battle I cheaply controlled Rita to go into overlimit and spam her most powerful spells on him.

Also, spoiler about the story sequence that proceeds that battle I hated that twist in the plot. I thought it was totally out of character and a cheap twist. Incompetent story telling at it's finest. I'm now at the end of the game, and I don't think the story was very good overall at all. There were many moments like that in the game that just didn't make any sense to me, and then 10 minutes later in the game things are fine and back to normal like nothing happened. It's like they just needed an excuse for a dungeon or a boss, without thinking if it made any sense for the stoy or characters.

Haha, heeey, we are neck and neck at the same point in game. He roughed me up quite badly as well, but my trick was spamming Shining Fang + Shining Fang Drops + Rita's dark Violent Pain attack which worked pretty well in slowing him down.

I beat him after two or three tries but it took me about 10 to get that secret achievement, I swear... (down him right after he uses Sacred Heart, so get Recover, spam X after he hits you and immediately do something that knocks him off his feet, like Wolf Strike).

Are you talking about what happened right right after or in the Heracles. Because if you mean somewhere in between there where it's all cool and dandy that Raven betrayed them then yeah, it makes absolutely no sense to me either how everyone's somewhat fine with it.

Yup, that's exactly what I'm talking about. I was like, wait, WTF?!

  7. Yeah, I don't have a lot of artes to be honest, I don't have the shining fang drops thing. And I play semi-auto out of desire to just mindlessly mash things when I'm tired. I'll try again tonight and actually investigate Recover and suchwhatnot.

  8. If you've got access to Dispersion and Crucible for Rita, definitely try to learn Bloody Howling and Eruption. They're offshoots of Violent Pain and Fire Ball.

And yeah, Raven coming back that soon (and getting forgiven) made that whole part seem a bit ridiculous and somewhat meaningless. On the other hand, if I actually used Raven in my regular party I'd be glad they cut through the bull instead of having him leave my party for a good while.

  9. I'm at the end of the game, really, and I'm going around getting synthesis materials so I can learn the last few skills I haven't gotten already. Then I need to actually work on altered artes. I have... five for Yuri. I've never manually controlled anyone else, and you can imagine how slow they are to get those on their own.

  10. I'm somewhere between 1/2-2/3 through but should have all but one of Rita's altered artes fairly soon... I'll have to find a way to synth another Ever Blue sometime to pick up the last skill. How do you learn and pull off mystic artes in Vesperia? In Abyss, it was almost automatic after passing level 30.

Edit: What item/skill do I need to learn Rita's mystic arte, and when can I find it?
