I had to skip Rebirth. I heard good things, but I can't really vouch for it. Try Eternia sometime.

The last one I bought new was Rebirth. It was 40 hours, and kind of turdish. Haven't touched them since. I'm kind of an action/arcade-style player these days. Can't dedicate the time they require.

Didn't like Rebirth. If I play another one, it'll likely be Eternia, as I've played Destiny (which was great) and close to done with Phantasia (which I also somewhat like). I'm sure this is blasphemy to a fan of the series, but ToD2 was the biggest let down to me. Couldn't handle it. Quit relatively early.

I kind of thought Destiny was by far the worst game in the series. Easy, no story, no character development, weak graphics... Cool level design, but really a very disappointing sequel.

Just finished the NA demo. Most everything was set-up like Tales of the Abyss except that the FoF circles were replaced with traps on the edge of the battlefield, which in this case were used to stun the boss. Stun was made was easy by choosing the scientist/mage character and hitting traps with the water/wind spell. I died both times trying out two other characters. ToV's gameplay here felt a bit slower than ToA, perhaps because I boosted Guy & Natalia's agility so high in the latter. XD Not sure how we can customize the stats in this one yet.
The graphics were really nice in HDMI, far beyond what my eyes can see 8 feet from the screen.

Is it as hard in the NA demo than it is with the JP Marketplace demo? Because man, I'm good at Tales games, but trying to kill that hound without stunning him was ridiculous (I was trying a yarikomi/useless challenge thing) to be fair here.Originally Posted by RedCoKid

This demo is the same afaik. Using the magic spell was the only way I could beat it; staying out of reach of enemies while not getting hit with the pollen. I got a +10 bonus and total grade 19-something.The weapons seemed weak in the regular battles, too. I got a 25+ hit combo in ToV demo while never surpassing 36 in all of ToA partly because the enemies died too fast.
