    Greetings friends,

    Latest News
It’s been just amazing the last few years: what with MST3K being honored as a top 25 science fiction show and top 25 “cult” show by TV Guide, and, most notably, in September being listed as one of the “Top One Hundred TV Shows Ever” by TIME – whew! Never saw it coming. Even mo-better are the really nice people that I’ve met who’ve had, and still have, great experiences watching horrendously great movies along with me and my funny friends. Thanks for mentioning it, thanks for keeping the dream alive, and thanks for buying the DVDs. It’s all been strange and mysterious and lovely, and it makes me want to do it all over again. And now, almost 20 years later, I am. I’ve decided, in collaboration with the other bold souls who “started it all,” to do a new project that is strong enough for our diehard audience, and also gentle and easy to swallow for those that are new to movie riffing. Wait for it….wait for it…. meet Cinematic Titanic!

It’s going to be powered by the original cast of MST3K! Trace Beaulieu, J. Elvis Weinstein and yours truly, along with some friends who came along later to make the show great: the beloved Frank Conniff and the scathingly brilliant Mary Jo Pehl.

We’re very busy writing and doing preproduction right now – so the website is tiny, but the big thing right now is to sign up for the newsletter so we can keep you informed about the fine movie riffing we’ve got planned for you. We’ve licensed our first title and are working at a brisk pace to get it delivered in time for Christmas! So you can give it as a gift to one of your sly friends or a loved one. Or you yourself can watch over the holidays to fight off that strange malaise that always seems to happen. Our first release is at this time a total secret, however – I’m willing to say it makes “Manos the Hands of Fate” look like “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” in a car wreck with “Eegah!” with notes of peach.

Also, in the news: I’ve just been interviewed by Lucasfilm online, in anticipation of Cinematic Titanic’s first live show and world premiere in San Francisco in December. We will link to that story as soon as it is released. Sorry, but this special live show is a closed event for I.L.M/Lucasfilm employees and guests only. As of this writing we are still negotiating some of the fine points, however I am pleased to mention that they’ve granted us the rights to offer this event to you, the friends of Cinematic Titanic, remotely and slightly after the fact - stay tuned.

Check in often as we intend to get the entire cast giving you their distinct takes on constructing this “lean, mean, movie-riffing machine” we call Cinematic Titanic in words, pictures and of course the moving image.
    Happy Halloween,

Their first release "The Oozing Skull" just came out after a few delays. They have a preview at link posted above. From the preview it looks like it will be a pretty solid experience, though it only shows the movie scenes, I don't know if they are going to have skits in between or not. If they do I hope they are as bad as some of the Film Crew skits are. Mst3k skits were always kind of cheesy, but they still usually managed to be funny. The Film Crew, not so much.

The downside is they are only available through http://www.eztakes.com/store/movie/T...e-Download.jsp and it looks like the packaging is about as bare bones as you can get. At least TFC has half way decent dvd cases. The other bad thing is that they were originally were going have it available for streaming, download to burn, or the dvd option they have now, but apparently the only managed to get the rights to release it on dvd, with the download to burn option to come later, and there is now no mention of the streaming option.

I'll have to check this out later when I get home.

  2. Film Crew and this need to recombine into MST3K.
Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo are essential for this stuff to work properly, IMO.

I honestly don't know why they don't, especially with CT they are going back to getting movie rights, FC are all public domain moviesthat no one owns the rights to. I don't know if it's just too many people involved, or if now since the show is off the air if it would be a legal nightmare with rhino & best brains to get it started again

  4. It's not like they have prior commitments at this point. They're all doing the same show they had 10 years ago, now it's just competing with itself in a robot-puppet free environment.

  5. So I finally received this the other day and watched it. I thought it was a great first episode, though given their were 5 people they could have had a little more riffing. The movie was about as bad as they come, and it either must have been a fairly short movie or they cut a lot out of it because the entire runtime is less than 85 min. They don't have any real skits, there are a few times where they pause the movie for a minute or two, you never see any of the cast outside of silhouette. I'll be looking foward future CT releases.

  6. It continues to be profoundly sad that this exists.

While I wish they would just get back together and do Mst3k, I'm glad that they are doing these various projects, it's definitely better than nothing imo.

I was reading on CT forums that someone spoke to Frank Coniff after a performance of Cartoon Dump, and said that Joel actually wanted to try and get MST3k started again, but couldn't work out the legal stuff with Jim Mallon, and supposedly Jim Mallon forced Rhino to stop carrying Film Crew releases or else he'd pull the MST3k dvd license. So it doesn't look like there will be anymore FC releases.

None of this is confirmed, but it seems that it's not that they don't want to get MST3k going again, it's sounding more like Jim Mallon being a tool that is stopping it from happening

  9. Film Crew is awesome, anyone watch "The Wild Women of Wongo" yet? it was pretty funny
