I like the lil' stingray at the end.

Artdink's Aqua [Working Title] for PS3. They're the ones who did Aquanaut's Holiday if I'm not mistaken... which was pretty boring and pointless -- even by these games' standards -- from what I read.

  2. HELL FUCKING YES PS3 AQUANAUT'S HOLIDAY BEST NEWS EVER

Don't believe those disgusting lies. Aquanaut's Holiday is entirely pointless. But I found it far from boring. It gives you a huge ocean to explore and a reef to build, which can be either relaxing and fun or boring and pointless, I guess. I also love Tail of the Sun so I guess I'm okay with Artdink's methods of game design. A lot of people aren't. But I'm unreasonably excited about this and I want it now, now, now.

  3. I have this on reserve for my wife and since I think it has a 2 player mode I will enjoy the dive with her for sure. We always watch all the ocean shows on the Discovery Channel so this is right up our alley. I'll have to look into that PS3 game also.

  4. I plan on getting this when I find a Wii in stores someday.

    it's a manta ray, compass!

But hot biscuits, whale shark + green sea turtle + manta rays makes this the second PS3 game Minna no Golfu, desu ne? ^___^ that makes me want a PS3.
    Donk

  6. With Nanostray 2 delayed a month this might be a purchase. $29.99 is reasonable enough to give it a shot. *-neo

Wow, compass's video looks amazing. Makes me all the more happy I have a ps3.
I took all your French Toast.

  8. This came out today. It's only $29.99.

The music is really nice. I especially like the song that plays during daytime on the deck of the boat. Makes me feel like I'm on vacation in a tropical paradise, relaxing, sunning it up... and cataloging fish.

That's pretty much the game. Salvage isn't the focus at all like it was in Everblue 2. While you do come across treasures (which get added to your Collection trunk on the boat), you don't have to identify, horde, then sell them off. Mostly you're discovering and petting/feeding fish. The Wii Remote works well enough, although it'd be easier maneuvering with a standard controller (there's an "Expert" control scheme I haven't tried yet... perhaps it allows one to use the Nunchuk?).

The vacation-like atmosphere is executed splendidly, and discovering new areas is magical as the camera pans around to highlight the underwater beauty. It's all very relaxing, and just what the doctor ordered. Much more so than Everblue 2 in fact, which could get pretty stressful at times.

EGM brushed it off in the back of their latest issue as a "non-game," not even giving it a full review. They bitched about the nature of the game, instead of the game itself, which I find highly irresponsible behavior for journalists and counterproductive to advancement of the medium.

They made fun because this scuba diving game has you, of all things, scuba diving. They wanted the fish to try to eat you (they said this), and were pissed you couldn't run out of air (which you can, they're wrong). They even listed off the stereotypical "gamey" mainstays this one doesn't have (danger, enemies, bosses), as if that makes it inherently bad. And weren't these two-faced asses the same ones in love with the dullest non-game of all time, Nintendogs? Indeed.

  9. Any word yet on nunchuk support Compass?

  10. It's sad, but I've gotten used to magazines giving a game a low score because they wanted it to be something else entirely. Beef sucks because it doesn't taste like chocolate, kind of thing.

I picked up Endless Ocean today but have yet to play it, and probably won't until next week. I need more hours in my day.
