This. But it happens to me all the time, so whatever. You can also choose to only play people around your points level, I think, which should help. The lesson here is to not give a shit about points.

  2. Points are fun if you let them do what they are supposed to do, which is match you against people of roughly equal skill. If I lose to someone and find him again, I will totally play against him again and let him eat my points to learn why I am losing. You can always get them back if you care about that sort of thing. I think I have jumped like from 3300 to 2500 or something like that before. Whatever, if I am playing scrubs, I will just shoot up again.

I agree with this, but the only time it ever worked was in vanilla and then people cried about not being able to find fights once they got to the A level or so. As it is now you can fight the best Cammy on XBL one match and the worst Ken in the world next (both with similar chances of victory, imo).

  4. Oh man, it was pretty rad in vanilla, your points SHOT up and down like a racecar, but if you got really up there you really did get to play a decent person like 1/3 or so. It was like an old tournament buddy reunion until the game got really popular.

When I had AE, I was setting the matches to "play someone better than me" or something like that. I usually didn't get it (unless they were for some reason assuming BP had much to do with skill), but I seemed to have better results overall.

  5. I guess maybe the main reason I want to get higher points is because Id like to improve and be able to challenge better and better people. Which makes me believe that maybe (at least unless you get to A rank) the Vanilla system was better.

  6. I think it uses PP more than BP, so just keep playing well, set it to challenge better people, and ask questions here! We are all happy to help. Record and put up a replay, I'll rip your play apart, but you'll come out better for it.

  7. It's great too how they've had ranked matches completely broken at release twice in a row now (MvC3 and TSO) which breaks the accuracy of the ratings before you even get the chance to see if the way they hand out points makes sense.

  8. I just had a bit more fair handed scoring when I set my search settings to "Anyone". I did lose a chit ton of points a little while ago but that was because the guy was ranked lower than me. I think because I set it before to "stronger than me" it was like "ok you wanna play rough? You lose you get molested".
