Now then, of course everyone involved made money. But they didn't try to lose. I feel there is a huge distinction between cheating to win and being paid to lose when you should win. One is cheating and the other is destroying the integrity of the game. Yes cheating is bad, but honestly, the Black Sox nearly destroyed the sport of Baseball in America. It's that simple.
If you are going to object to the Patriots cheating this way then every time someone gets caught cheating by taking steroids you should feel the same way, and if at any time a team is caught stealing signs or even watching game tape, then clearly the team has to be fined and banned, they condoned it. And heaven help the team that goes offside and doesn't get caught, clearly they are ruining the integrity of the game. All this is, this whole controversy, is the game being brought into the 21st century, and being forced to deal with technology.
I'll be honest, I don't find the idea of the Patriots cheating to win to be all that harmful. The entire game is based on cheating in some way or another, people always trying to find an edge. Until that is stomped out, I'm not going to sit and judge the Pats for supposedly doing something that everyone else is probably trying to do themselves.
You socialists don't get it to a greater degree than I thought. The NFL, like MLB, has an antitrust exemption that grants all kinds of advantages over every other business. If illegal activities are going on, millions of gambling dollars could have changed hands the wrong direction. The league puts at risk the very basis for its success. There is nothing more important than a level playing field in terms of the rules.
