Whoever came up with kinect should be fired. You really can't come up with a worse type of motion control for gaming.

It's actually a positive but for an odd reason. Developers cannot make multiplatform games for Move and Kinect. Hopefully that cripples the support for both.

I have to put this bluntly: If you don't have at least 8 feet of unobstructed space between where you plan to place the sensor and the limit of how far back you can stand, Kinect will just not work right. Placing it on top of your television will give you an extra foot or so, but still, those who live in apartments, plan to use Kinect in a bedroom, or otherwise have "unconventional" living room layouts are, for all intents and purposes, screwed.

This should be a true deal-breaker for many who've been considering getting a Kinect. Believe me -- measure your play space. Not enough room? It won't work properly. Still want to take a chance? Be sure to keep the receipt.

My game room is great, has enough room for people to play rock band, etc. It doesn't have THAT kind of space though. I'd have to move all the shit to the living room. Thanks MS for making my decision easier!

The Ars review comes down pretty hard on the motion UI control being shit, the lack of game variety because of no direct control for characters and lots of other things I mentioned to an MS rep in September. He swore up and down the racing game would have you controlling the gas and break. That was a lie. He swore it works great while sitting (the verdict is still out on that one). He swore up and down you could control the entire dash with your hands and voice. False, and it borders on unintuitive. I agree with Ars, within a year they'll add a Move type or peripheral for "precision control" because right now the library will be limited to the types of launch games.
