This is why the republican party is about to go into meltdown. There's going to be a lot of cannibalism and finger pointing happening over the course of the next year. Palin is the favored scapegoat, though I'll enjoy seeing McCain's campaign managers dragged out into the street. That "Tucker" dude? First against the wall.

Won't happen. It was predicted that this would happen in 2000/2004 with the democrats. What happened? Howard Dean became DNC chief and reworked the party, looking for inside players to run in the future. Kerry was a weak first play. They picked up with Obama and Hilary in 2008, the 50 state strat and full on money from internet fund raising.

If the GOP can take a similar 50 state strat or find another Karl Rove who knows how to push the numbers in teh right ways...

He needed to take the right risks, and he showed poor judgment. If he put an independent economy guy like bloomberg on the ticket he could have won.

No, he needed to run a solid campaign from the start. I'm begining to think he could never win nationally under the R flag because of all the damage he's taken internally from the RINO thing and the fact that the base doesn't see him as one of their own like they do Bush and Reagan. Rudy suffers from the same problem.

the republican base is a bunch of idiots who love a fellow moron like palin. ronald reagan was the most conservative president we've had since before the new deal and america loved the shit out of him. it's not the conservative ideology that lost america as much as it was palin looking like a complete jackass after 8 years of president jackass.

seriously, why is this hard? run a conservative who can keep his foot out of his mouth and the focus will be forced to the issues. and then the conservatives will come out and vote their issues! or watch sarah palin scare the fuck out of everyone who is more qualified to run the country than she is so that they actually vote AGAINST their issues. your call GOP.

in fact, i think the brain trust on right pushed palin because they knew she was a disaster and wanted to expose her during a campaign that was pretty much doomed anyway. why burn your blue chip prospects on john mccain as he marched through a headwind and into an avalanche?

I doubt they wanted to expose Palin like this, under different circumstances she could be a serious contender like Bush was. She's got the charisma and the track record issue wise for a Presidential run, but she's a walking media bomb.
