I'm not saying people aren't accountable for their own actions, but broad statistical tendencies can be explained by complex social and economic factors more accurately than genetic ones.

If all you can see if the back of his head, and he's wearing a non-descript black coat and jeans, let's say, then statistically you should cross the street if there is a similarly average looking white guy over there.
